LONDON — Footage captured Sunday from a drone and a jetskier shows a 51,000-tonne car transporter leaning by 52 degrees on a sandbank between Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
The Höegh Osaka was deliberately run aground Saturday evening after it began to list shortly after it left the Port of Southampton bound for Germany.
The 25 crew members onboard the ship were all safely rescued by lifeboats and a coastguard helicopter, two were taken to hospital. The Höegh Osaka is a 179-metre, Singapore-registered cargo ship built in 2000.
