3.3. Analysis of functional divergence
The statistically significant pairwise coefficients of type I and type II
functional divergence (θI and θII, respectively) are given in Table 7. The
obtained results indicate that some paralogs experienced quite significant
functional divergence even though the analyzed region of CRY
is highly conserved. Overall, the largest type I divergence occurred
between the photolyase paralogs in plants: e.g., CRY1A and CRY2
(θI=1.12±0.25); themost significant type II divergencewas observed
between CRY1C and CRY2 (θII=0.42±0.16).On the contrary, the CRY1
paralogs in teleosts seem to be the less functionally diverged as compared
to CRY1/CRY2 comparisons (Table 7). Sites related to type I
