The results presented here provide the first ecozonal account of cassava diseases and their association with agronomic and varietal characteristics. The results of the survey revealed that CMD was the most prevalent disease with high plant incidences in cassava fields in Benin and Ghana, followed by bacterial blight, while the fungal diseases were of minor importance at the time of the survey. Similar observations were also reported by Wydra and Msikita (1998) from four West African countries.
