2.3. Survey distribution
All students received an email from their infectious diseases instructor inviting them to participate in the online survey. Two email reminders were sent 2 and 4 weeks after the initial message. The survey was available online from June to August 2012. Participation was voluntary, anonymous, and no compensation was offered.

2.4. Statistical analysis
The survey results were analyzed with the SPSS® software,
version 18. Percentages were calculated for the categorical data, with scaled items analyzed both as multilevel responses and collapsed into dichotomous variables when appropriate. Results are presented combined for 5th- and 6th-year students, since the comparison of data did not show any statistically significant difference.
