Sequencing the events
Sometimes when more than one thing happens, we put the events in order. To sequence the events, we can notice the time clues used in the passage.
Time clues are numbers, words and phrases that tell us when something is happening, has happened or will not happen. They help us identify the order in which events occurred, that is, their chronological order. Thus, time clues can increase our understanding of what we read.
There are three types of time clues:
Dates : June3,1996,the late 1900's,etc.
Single-word : later,yesterday,soon,tomorrow,first,later,then,next,etc.
Phrases : in three days, last week, several months before, etc.
