To date, numerous genes of interest have been introduced
into plants by different methods. Compared with
conventional plant breeding method, transgenic means
shorten the breeding cycle to a great extent, especially
for forest plants. While the first generation of transgenic
plants (í0) is usually heterozygous, the genotypic
segregation of progenies makes the selective breeding
task complicated. However, the difficulties will be
effectively avoided by the transformation of the haploid
plants.
