The yield of oil into biodiesel was 97% under the conditions applied herein, which were based on prior optimization works of our group (Santos et al., 2010 and Lima et al., 2012). This yield ensures that the biodiesel will have more than 96–96.5% of ester content, which is the minimum ester content required by regulating agencies in Europe, USA and Brazil (that follows EN 14214, ASTM D6751 and similar standards) for commercial biodiesel. Thus, SCG oil can be considered a viable raw material for the production of biodiesel.
