Thailand is one of the countries that has quarterback problem in education system. When I was in private high school, my teachers taught me not enough knowledge for the final exam. For example, in math class, I had learned in chapter 1 to chapter 4, but in the exam I had to do the test of chapter 5 that I had not studied yet. On the other hand, my friends who studied in other classes already learned all of the lessons which were in the test. Therefore, it showed that the standard of teachers seems to be unequal.
Apart form the quarterback problems in my high school, there are some quarterback problems between the private schools and public schools in Thailand. Many students have studied in the different curriculum which depends on each school. They will not learn the same lessons that ready to have the entrance exam. Because of this, students must have extra study from outside school; a clear example is a tutorial school. In order to catch up the lessons of the entrance exam that they did not learn in their schools, students have to study in tutorial school after finishing in regular schools. It also affect the student's financial problem. They have to pay more money for studying.
The last problem is that some Thai school teachers did not graduate from the major subject which they teach. This is the main point that I have heard from many school in Thailand. Students do not get the actual knowledge of the lesson. To illustrate, teachers graduate in humanity major, but they teach in Mathematics subject. Thus, there are some problems that teacher cannot teach students. Then they teach the basic lessons, and students just receive the rudimentary lessons. it is quite similar to the essay of Gladwell that it happens in Thailand.
