The growth performance of microorganism depicted its adaptation,
assimilation and survival in the surrounding environment.
Fulfilment of the basic requirement of growth such as regulation in
pH, temperature and other external factors would promote better
microorganism growth performance such as shorter lag phase and
higher specific growth rate. According to Rolfe et al. (2012), lag
phase represents the earliest stage of the microorganism life cycle
which is responsible for adaptation to the new environment.
