If we compare the changing needs of a manager with the needs of employees we will see an emphasis on appreciation, respect and self-realisation. Physiological and social needs are not as crucial. The "higher" needs as described by Maslow in his pyramid may sometimes be the same for managers and employees. They will share a mutual interest in such things as equality, respect and attention, and it is in these areas that a basis for working together should be sought.
Communicative skills are also of crucial importance to a manager. The employee must be given all due attention. Outcomes relatings to new leadership styles are shown in figure which will now be further explained.
The manager. The manager should have an open style of communication and be attentive to employee, stimulating their motivation and commitment.
