The survey revealed that 65% of the respondents have seen the smart card, and more
than 83% respondents have seen the ATVM machine installed on the suburban
railway stations. However, 70% of the respondents knew about the smart card
services of the Indian Railway started for suburban ticket booking. This shows that
the awareness about the smart card service is very good among the commuters. 70% of the respondents agree that the smart card service is under their budget.
Interestingly, 80% of the respondents are happy to use the smart card service if it’s
gifted to them. The comparative analysis on the basis of gender and salary drawn is given in the
below tables. It is found that the awareness among male and female group has difference of around
20%. The willingness to purchase the smart card is same. However, male group of
respondents feeling convenient to use the smart card is very good i.e. 71.79% but
female group is low i.e. 38.10%.
The respondents under the Rs. 2lakh pa and 3.99lakh pa salary group as well as above
4lakh pa group are around 60% who feels the smart is easy and convenient to use as
well as willing to purchase it. The trend shows that the willingness to use the smart
card is very good in all the salary group respondents.
