According to De et al. (2003) the alcohol extract of cumin
was tested on different test organisms. Significant growth inhibition
was observed for Agrobacterium tumefaciens and B. subtilis. M.
luteus, E. aerogenes and E. coli did not show sensitivity to
concentrations that were lower than 100 mg EPW/ml of the extract.
However, the cumin extract could not inhibit the growth of S.
cerevisiae (De et al., 2003). Antibacterial and antifungal activities of
C. cyminum L. essential oil were not similar with De et al. (2003)
findings. Because, in our study, C. cyminum L. had the broadest
spectra of activity against all the test microorganisms.
