If a walker herd does attack the Alexandria Safe-Zone in The Walking Dead Season 6, in some version of the comic book storyline,it’s probably coming from The Wolves’ booby trap "zombie army." Right?
Melty talked to Greg Nicotero about what’s ahead, asking if we can expect The Wolves to be the big bad enemy of Season 6. Greg said, "We've set up The Wolves in Episode 16; I love those characters — I mean, the fact that you have people that are basically utilizing the people that they kill as ammunition to build a zombie army. We see them in Episode 9, when they get to Noah's neighborhood, and we see the 'Wolves Not Far' in the background. And when the W man says in the beginning [of Episode 16, to Morgan] ‘we're going to take you too but you're not exactly going to be alive,’ we realize through the course of the episode that they are setting booby traps everywhere so that they can take people's possessions and then use them as a means to build the walkers in the traps. So it's kind of a diabolical plan."
It sounds like that army will come into play early in Season 6, since showrunner Scott M. Gimple hinted to something like that in his post-S5-finale statement about next season: "... For a good while now, humans have been the bigger threat. At the start of our next season, that will change. I said the show reinvents itself every 8 eps, and we’re doing it again, friendos. Now that these characters know they have what it takes to survive, what are they going to do with that power? How will they choose to live? Beyond answering those questions, we’re currently putting into motion some of our most ambitious stuff yet, and things are going to get very big, loud and scary."
In the comic book, the mega-herd was drawn to Alexandria after Rick’s group had a shootout with The Scavengers. In the TV version, The Wolves seem to be a rough remix of The Scavengers and it’s possible a shootout will lure the walkers from their trailers to attack Alexandria. Or they could be put into attack mode by The Wolves themselves.
Do you think we’ll see this “zombie army” attack Alexandria in Season 6? If so, how will they end up at the ASZ
