There is secondary containment for elevated diesel oil tank for generator but it is inadequate
volume per NFPA standard to contain the leak oil because of material was kept. This case is
critical because if diesel oil leaks out from the tank without adequate bund wall or containment,
it can leak by the whole volume and may catch a fire by any hat source in the area. Fire could be
burn out and spread back to storage area, which finally generate a severe fire.
Recommendation:
A clearance should be maintained around transformer. This enables proper operation of the firespread
protection in a fire emergency.
The minimize of the possibility of bush fire arising out of transformer yard should be controlled
because bushes around the electrical unit can be considered as fire load in case of fire and also
surrounding, it is recommended that consideration be given to remove or cut off all bushes and
grass.
At the time of survey, It was observed fuel at 275 liters from 440 liters full tank which it is too
low for at least 30 minutes fire fighting.
