It is the responsibility of ALL employees in the warehouse to report racking damage immediately to their line manager as well as any cargo that has slipped or been loaded on to the racking in a dangerous or unstable position.
Following damage reports the rack must be inspected immediately and if necessary all freight removed from affected area. All reports of damage must be recorded.
The racking must be inspected visually and with basic measuring aids on a regular basis. The frequency of this check can be determined by risk assessment and local requirements, but must not exceed intervals of greater than 1 month.
This check must be recorded. It is the responsibility of warehouse management to ensure that the routine checks are carried out as planned and necessary repairs are completed as soon as practicable.
