Conclusion
The resultsobtainedfromthisstudyhaveshownthat30%
inclusions ofunrefinedformsofcopraandpalmkernelmealsdo
not negativelyaffectthefeedintakeof O. niloticus. Theaddition
of 30%soybeanmeal,however,significantlyreducedfeedintake.
Similarly, waterstabilitiesanddrymatteraswellasnutrientreten-
tions weresignificantlyaffectedbytheinclusionsoftheoilseed
meals. Theinclusionofthesoybeanmealresultedinpelletswith
significantly higherbulkdensity,sinkingrateandwaterstability
compared totheotherexperimentaldiets.Nutrientretentioneffi-
ciencies werealsoaffectedbytheinclusionoftheoilseedmeals.
The PKMdietresultedinlowerproteinandlipidretentionsrelative
to thefishmeal-basedcontroldiet.Priortreatmentsofcopraand
palm kernelmealmaybenecessarytoreducetheirhighcrudefibre
contents whichappearedtonegativelyaffectpelletwaterstability
and faecalmatterproduction.
