ASEAN is Association of SouthEast Asian Nations was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN declaration by the Founding Members of ASEAN, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Afterwards Brunei Darussalam joined on 8 January 1984, Vietnam on 28 July 1996, Laos PDR and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999, making up what is today the ten Members State of ASEAN.
ASEAN Economic Community is an agreement which lets businesses in ASEAN countries expand much easier inside the region. That can mean an opportunity for your startup to expand, or threatened because other companies can come into your turf and fight you.
In year 2003 ,ASEAN agreed to set the direction to become ASEAN Economic Community: AEC) within 2015 under the 3 supportive pillars which compose of ASEAN Security Community, ASEAN Social-Cultural Community and ASEAN Economic Community. Thailand and others countries may encounter both crises and opportunities when the ASEAN Economic Community is implemented in a few year. There will be movement of labors, education sector must be adapted to be survive, freedom in education, Students movement among AEC countries, International Quality Assurance in Educational sectors, Joints degree and so forth. Entrepreneurs and educational sectors should work together to revamp curriculum. The curricula revamp should encourage students to think analytically and be able to solve problems so they are able to handle problems when growing up as well as understand the ways of life and cultures of other ASEAN countries and challenging them not only in ASEAN country but in the World market. You should prepare yourself to welcoming this program with a good soft and hardskill if you want to survive.
