3. Results
Of 750 women with a pre-pregnancy BMI of at least 30, 485 had
been approached for a randomized controlled trial of a dietary intervention,
and 43 had missing data. Therefore, 231 obese women and 455
non-obesewomen with a pre-pregnancy BMI of 20–24.9were included
in analyses. Data on GWGwere available for 174 obese women and 236
non-obese women. The obese women were significantly younger than
were the non-obese women, fewer were nulliparous, and more were
smokers (Table 1).
