The main chemical composition (Table 2a) is substantially in agreement
with the mineralogy of soils. High LOI and CaO values in samples
from Campo Pisano and Sa Masa are indicative of the presence of a
major carbonatic fraction, while in P5 and P6 profiles the prevalence
of the quartz and phyllosilicate fraction is well pinpointed by high
values of SiO2 and Al2O3. Iron (as Fe2O3) is significant, as expected, in
the tailing samples from Campo Pisano (P1 and P3), where, other than
