Spirulina is a group of filamentous, blue-green microalgae that exists in wide range of aquatic environments. It grows from tropical to temperate regions and is reported to grow abundantly in alkaline waters and in salty lakes. Spirulina is widely recognized for its high macro-and micronutrient value. It contains substantially high amounts of protein, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and photosynthetic pigments. Through the years, spirulina has gained considerable importance and international demand in the human health industry in the form of dietary supplements. It has also been used as a complementary ingredient for poultry feed and aquafeed
