Joining the ASEAN community will have both advantages and disadvantages to Thailand. Our quality of life will be improved. We will become more convenient because of high technology. We will easily connect to other people in the ASEAN community. The English language is very important for communication. Everyone must communicate in English. It means that English will be more and more important, especially for study and work. If we do not have knowledge about English, we will lose great opportunity for our future careers. Moreover, people from other ASEAN countries can come to work in Thailand. It is a good chance for improving our educational needs in Thailand in order to exchange and learn about different cultures.
Moreover, all population of the ASEAN countries will be one. We will learn each other’s languages. We will greet new friends with new language such as
Under the Asean Economic Community (AEC), a single regional common market of Asean countries will be created by 2015. The regional integration's objective is to create a competitive market of over 600 million people in Asean countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. There will be free flow of goods, services, investment capital and skilled labor following the liberalization. These will include tariff reductions and streamlining of certain administrative procedures. Many businesses have begun preparing themselves three years ahead of time to meet the challenges and opportunities of the Asean Economic Community (AEC).
