1.2. Objectives
The main objective of this study was to compare the properties of pervious concrete specimens prepared using a variety of techniques to determine which procedures would best represent the in situ properties of pervious concrete pavements. Additionally, the relationships between pavement infiltration rate, porosity and density were evaluated.
2. Materials and methods
To accomplish the objective of this study, test specimens were cast using multiple techniques and compared to cores taken from the pavements from which the samples were prepared.
2.1. Materials
During this research project, the research team cast specimens that were compared to the in-place pavement for three different pervious concrete paving projects. All of the pavements were placed by the same contractor and used the same mix design and materials supplied by the same ready-mix concrete supplier (Table 1). Each of the three pavements is a parking lot and the specifics are summarized in Table 2.
