A New Jersey man who battered his friend to death with a heavy metal dumbbell faces up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault.
Esteban Castillo, 35, smashed William Vasconello, 30, in the head several times with a 25-pound weight in October 2013.
The duo were having a heated argument at his Paterson apartment when he launched the sickening attack.
It's not clear what the feud was about.
Castillo said the pair were a couple, but relatives dismissed the claim in court, insisting Vasconello was not gay.
Vasconello's body was found two days after the horrific Oct. 18, 2013, killing.
Castillo was arrested several days later and initially charged with murder and possession of criminal weapons.
His charge was downgraded to aggravated manslaughter.
He pleaded guilty in Superior Court in Paterson on Friday and will be sentenced Oct. 2.
