The Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) has conducted a number of activities that have resulted in a series of storage coefficients that can be applied to the estimation of CO2 storage resource/capacity for a variety of geological formations.
Specifically, storage coefficients have been developed for saline formations at scales ranging from site-specific locations to entire formations. These coefficients can be used to estimate storage resource for large sedimentary basins and, ultimately, entire nations and continents.
