Antinociceptive and Anti-inflammatory
Activities: When tested on mice, the aqueous leaf
extract of P. sarmentosum at doses of 30, 100 and
300 mg/kg showed significant antinociceptive and
anti-inflammatory activities 10
. Antinociceptive
activity evaluated by abdominal constriction and
hot-plate tests, and anti-inflammatory activity
evaluated using carrageenan-induced paw oedema
test showed that the extract exerted significant
activities in a dose-dependent manner at all doses
used. Concurrently, the ethanol root extract of P.
sarmentosum has also been reported to possess and
anti-inflammatory antinociceptive and antipyretic
properties 62
.
