The roles of different stakeholders and decision makers at multiple
scales are key for the adequate exploitation, management and conservation
of freshwater ecosystems. Government is not the only agent
interested in freshwater conservation, both academia and NGOs participate
in differentmanaging and conservation programs as well as in integrating
this information, including their analyses on several problems
and aspects of conservation, and the private sector aids with financing and practical measures. In this regard, the invitation to participate and
unite efforts to understand and conserve freshwater ecosystems and
their dynamics should be open to all stakeholders
