Aniline oligomers role in corrosion protection of mild steel in
sodium chloride solutions among electronic and barrier effect, is
mainly connected with the change of the oxygen reduction kinetics
from 4-electron on mild steel to 2-electron path on mild steel
covered with aniline oligomers. As a consequence, formed hydrogen
peroxide could oxidize initial Fe2+ corrosion products to Fe3+
which precipitate as Fe(OH)3 in coating pores lowering the corrosion
rate. During the corrosion process structure of the aniline
oligomer remains practically unchanged
