Comprehensive chemical characterization of particles emitted from incense burning was carried out. Six different brands of incense sticks commonly used by various religious groups were
examined in this study. Based on integral mass balance model, the emission factors of different particulate pollutants were evaluated in terms of their mass emitted per hour or per gram of incense burned; the emission factors of PM2.5 and PM2.5-bound chemical species, including EC, OC, metals and ions are given in terms of their masses.
