Summary
Evaluators beginning qualitative analyses for the first time often experience a bewildering
array of options and strategies for conducting such analyses. The purpose of this article is to
provide an elaborated account of a commonly used and straightforward option for analyzing
qualitative data. The general inductive approach, described in detail in this article, provides an
option for those evaluators who seek a simple, nontechnical means to carry out qualitative analyses.
