Discussion
The aim of this study was to examine the effect of a short,
simple yoga program (2-week duration) on body pain, health
status, and physical function. Low back pain, upper arm or
neck pain, menstrual pain, and health status (GHQ total
score, sleep disturbance, anxiety, and dysphoria) were improved
after yoga practice in the intervention group. These
benefits were accentuated after 4 weeks, and more frequent
practice was directly associated with improvements in low
back pain and menstrual pain. No adverse events were reported,
indicating that simple home-based yoga practice is
likely to be safe for child-care workers.
