By analogy to the reference method

By analogy to the reference method for the determination of
steryl ferulates suggested by Hakala et al. (2002), our method
allowed the extraction of high yields of campestanyl ferulate/
sitosteryl ferulate (74.8 mg/g DM), coming close to the established
method (76.2 mg/g DM). In contrast, applying the method of
Hakala et al. (2002), lutein and b-tocotrienol were undetectable,
since both compounds were presumably removed during the baseacid-
clean up step of the purification procedure.
