Simulations were carried out using the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, ANSYS CFX 14.5, to solve the steady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations (RANS). High resolution advection scheme was used to solve the governing equations except turbulence, for which a first order upwind scheme was used. Three turbulence models, the k-ω, k-ε, and SST, were evaluated. Only the k-ε turbulence model with scalable wall functions resulted in good agreement over entire operating range. The k-ε turbulence model was therefore used in the simulations. The inlet turbulence intensity was set at 5%. Convergence was considered adequate when root mean squared (RMS) residual for continuity fell below 1E-05 and the mass imbalances were found to be in the order of 1E-05.
