Mothers from both
groups provided skin-to-skin care. There were no
demographic differences between the 2 groups,
including GA, PMA, birth weight, and severity of
illness. Mendes and Procianoy25 examined the combined
effects of stroking with kinesthetic (passive
movement or range or motion) stimulation that
lasted 15 minutes and was delivered 4 times per day.
The intervention group went home 7 days sooner
and experienced significantly less late-onset sepsis.
