A reduction in jatropha oil acidity proportional to the increase in concentration of the swine wastewater applied to the crop was observed.
The higher volumes of swine wastewater applied favored the reduction in the concentration of linoleic acids in jatropha oil, what was likely responsible for the acidity reduction, once that the lower ercentage of linoleic acid provides more stability and oxidation and, consequently, less free fatty acid quantity in the oil.
It is also important to mention the environmental gain due to a less harmful disposal when compared to common disposal practices, as well as the feasibility of the use of jatropha oil with less acidity to produce biodiesel, since for its production the acidity of crude oils is normally reduced by oil refining, what has an enormous cost.
In this work we were able to reduce this cost to zero.
For research complementation, tests about the effect of swine wastewater concentration in soil characteristics must be carried out
