he activities I participated in throughout my childhood and in high school helped me to develop into the person I am today and it is hard for me to imagine my life without participating in those activities. This is why I believe it is essential for children to participate in a sport in order for them to be a well-rounded, successful adult. Sports benefit children so much; for example, they help to build a child’s character, they boost a child’s self-esteem, they teach children how to work together, and they help to keep a child fit. However, without sports children do not get these benefits. Due to the economic recession, budget cuts have been made in numerous schools that have been keeping voluminous amounts of students from participating in sports. I propose that there needs to be some kind of policy in place that gives funding to elementary, middle, and high schools and requires all students to participate in some kind of sport or activity every year; sports benefit children physically, emotionally, and socially, without the opportunity to participate in activities, children will be impaired in the future.
