A 5-g corn stalk sample was fully immersed in 20 g of distilled water, then laccase activity of the filtrate by filtration with filter paper was determined by monitoring the oxidation at 420 nm of 500 μmol/L ABTS buffered with 50 m mol/L sodium tartrate buffer (pH 4.0) (Eggert et al., 1997), and polysaccharide of the filtrate was determined by the method of Dubois et al. (1956) (Wang and Lu, 2005), using glucose solution as a standard reference.
