Garcia-Zamor (2003) asserts there is a spiritual awakening in the U.S. workplace. This trend is prevalent because more employers have taken a humanistic approach for creating a more fulfilling work environment. The assumption being that employees who are fulfilled through expressing their spirituality are happy, creative,and productive. On the other hand, when employees are discouraged from expressing their spirituality, a dispirited environment is created and results in low morale, absenteeism, and greater turnover.
