The 2005 price of tub-lump rubber was 7,800 Kip/kg = $0.74/kg. In this period there have been big fluctuations in the price of rubber, with a low record of $0.56/kg in December 2008 and a high record of $2.81/kg in February 2011, with most of the period experiencing higher prices than the price when the study was done.
All households interviewed continued to practice rotational shifting cultivation in order to contribute to food security. Of the six households in B Hat Nyao sampled only one was rice self-sufficient.
