Although the use of a continuous scale to measure
infant attachment security may have influenced
model results, separate analyses demonstrated significant
concordance between prenatal representations
of caregiving and infant – mother attachment
classifications when collapsed into secure and insecure
groups. Thus, more traditional categorical
analyses yielded results similar to modeling results,
at least for that one pathway in the model. Unfortunately,
concordance between maternal attachment
experiences and infant – mother attachment
could not be assessed because the PAAQ does not
yield classifications.
