Participant 8 voiced frustration at the association between commercial spaces and places to relax in
the city centre. Alcohol culture was noted as a challenge; places to relax were associated with previous
habits of drug and alcohol dependency. Participant 2 suffered with insomnia, but if she wanted to
meet friends in the evening ‘there’s like umpteen bars and pubs, but if you don’t want to be in that
environment, there’s not many coffee shops that open late’. Combating ‘addictive behaviour’ is a step
towards mental health recovery related to all facets of the MOHO.
