II. TECHNOLOGY IN FLIPPED CLASSROOM
Although the implementation of the flipped classroom at
both the University and the school levels has positive impacts,
the question remains whether its implications will be costly?.
Flipped classroom implementation requires the use of
technology in teaching and learning. Hence, the use of
technology necessarily incurs costs. From another aspect, the
use of technology also helps reduce costs. [22] proved that, the
use of technology could also reduce the cost in a school which
suffered serious financial problems, namely, Byron School.
All the textbook material was transformed to digital form on
the Internet as the cost of buying text books was unbearable,
and Mathematics was selected to be the pilot subject in the
implementation of the flipped classroom method. So, the
students and teachers only access information from the
Internet through the flipped classroom method. The
effectiveness of the implementation of the flipped classroom
has a phenomenal impact on Byron School where it was
awarded School of Distinction for Mathematics by Intel.
