Uranium is a naturally occurring, ubiquitous, heavy metal found in various chemical forms in all soils, rocks, seas and oceans. On average, approximately 90 µg of U exists in the human body from normal intakes of water, food and air(33).Tobacco smoke (from two packages of cigarettes per day) contributes less than 50 ng of inhaled U per day(34).In our samples,U concentration was in the range of 0.01-0.07 µg kg-1 with an average of 0.04µg kg-1 This value is negligible when compared to brooklime samples analyzed by Dudel et al(16)
