During this process, a projection, which was larger on the upper edge and smaller on the bottom edge, would appear.
Some plants with too heavy spiral girdling might spring out some twigs at the lower part of the spiral girdled branch, the projection would be more obvious and the healing period would be prolonged.
When the wound heals, the cutting place would turn smooth from curve and projective. Three to 4 years later, the cutting cannot be recognized easily (Figs. 3 and 4).
