Matthew’s Advice
Your parents probably think they’re doing what’s best, but it sounds as if you should sit down with them and tell them you feel. Try explaining that you are able to choose your own friends, and help them to see that they are causing problems with your social life and knocking your confidence.
If you can help them to trust you and understand that you’re really growing up and that you are capable of choosing your own friends, then the situation will begin to get better. Things may not be able to accept that their “little one” is changing. By talking it through, you’ll also be given the chance to work it out.
