The Hotel is located in a serene setting on banks of Mae Klong river and is surrounded by many trees and vegetation. Particular to this site and giving name to the project, are large mature lamphu trees, that can only be found growing on river banks and that are endemic and symbolic of Thailand riversides. It is a beautiful site and the architectural strategy aimed to emphasize and enhance it, creating a very special experience for future guests.
The project is divided into two zones: the restaurant and the hotel towers.
Preceding the accommodation is the decked river terrace restaurant. The awning offers visitors shade but there is little other obstruction allowing guests to enjoy panoramic views of the river. The material palette includes reflective metallic surfaces that take in the surroundings and the wooden decking that complements the landscape colors.
Passing the restaurant the visitor is led towards the hotel towers. The entry into this zone is marked by concrete triple story high corridor that frames the view of the river and the sky. The mass, materiality and the height of soaring walls enclosing the visitor contrast with the serenity of views of nature, creating and intense and memorable experience. The towers are oriented to offer best view of the river and all the rooms have terraces, offering guests an opportunity for private experiencing of the natural surrounding. The terraces are shaded using timber louvered shutters, that can be closed or fully opened.
Throughout the project, great effort had been done to offer best experience for the guests. The materials throughout have been chosen to be non obtrusive and to melt harmoniously with the natural setting.
