In fact organizations do have personalities and cultures. Studies of Westinghouse and General Electric show that the organizational environment of these two giant corporations can be identified in context of the founders. George Westinghouse was a brilliant, highly organized engineer. Thus, the company was structured as a technocracy and succeeded very well in those areas that required engineering research and application. However, its entry into consumer goods was not as successful as that of General Electric, founded by John Davison, who had a hands-on background in marketing.
