The Timeline and Coherence subscales of the Family Illness Perception Questionnaire
(FIPQ; Scollan-Koliopoulos et al., 2006) assessed participants’ recollections of a
family member’s illness representation of time line and understanding by asking
the same questions as those in the self-version, rephrased to read, “My family
member believed that . . .”
