IV. QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS EVALUATION
The questionnaire was left on the counter in two local
Pharmacy branches. Once branch was a standalone pharmacy,
and the other was a pharmacy attached to a doctor’s surgery.
This was to allow different participant’s experiences to be
analysed. Patients and employees were encouraged to complete
the questionnaire to help the development of a university project.
It was also highlighted that the results would be anonymous and
completion of a questionnaire was on the users own accord, to
avoid a pressurised environment. A total of 56 participants
completed the questionnaire and their results will be analysed to
effectively develop a requirement specification for the PTS.
What is your relationship to a Pharmacy?
From the participants who completed the questionnaire it
shows 79% were patients. The remaining 21% were healthcare
professionals from both the pharmacy and doctor’s surgery. The
results from the question will be kept in mind when analysing
all the results from the questionnaire. With over half of the
participants being patients the results may be wavered in their
favour. This could have detrimental effects on the developed
requirements specification as the system needs to be attractive
for both patients and healthcare professionals to use.
Which age range are you?
The results show exactly half of the participants were of the
age 40 and below. Participants of the age 40 and below may have
a more technological enhanced background in comparison to
other participants. This may mean they have previous
knowledge of tracking systems, or currently use similar systems.
With technological backgrounds and knowledge, participants
may have an idea of what functionality would be good to be
included in the system. The other half of participants are in the
age range of 41 and over. With close enough to 20% of
participants being over the age of 61. Such users may not have
access to the means of technology, or the understanding of what
functionality of a PTS has to offer. It is highly important such
users have an input on development of the system. Additional
training and providing ways they can access the PTS is key.
Do you take regular medications?
The results shows 80% the majority of participants take
medication on a regular basis, which need re-ordering. This
shows the PTS would be highly effective to show these
participants the current status/location of the prescription they
have recently ordered. Also with the majority of participants
being users of regular medication it demonstrates the PTS will
be meeting demand.
Have you arrived to collect a prescription but it has not
been ready to collect?
The results show 87% of participants have arrived to collect
a prescription to find out it is not ready to collect. The main
reason behind the PTS is to improve communication so all users
have the visibility to see the status/location of their prescription.
With a PTS it would highly diminish the number of users having
to wait around or query their prescription. With the majority of
users having faced this problem previously, it shows the high
importance of the development of a PTS. This question also
helps determine the demand for the system which is of a majority
percentage.
On average, how long do you spend waiting to collect a
prescription?
The purpose of this question was to show the current
situation of participant’s experience. With 57% of participants
waiting on average 6-10 minutes, and 30% of users waiting
longer than 11 minutes highly demonstrates a problem. This
shows how essential the PTS would be to help diminish waiting
times, users will be able to log into the system in their own time
before arriving in store. Participants who wait a long time in
store can create a negative environment. This question again
highlights the demand for the PTS.
Do you use the pharmacies website?
The results shows 61% of participants do use the pharmacies
website. This question has helped identify that if the
functionality was available within the website, as it stands the
majority of users would be targeted. Additionally 39% of
participants currently do not use the website, this could be down
to the fact that they do not have the accessibility or it has not
been advertised effectively. Integrating the PTS within the
website would require additional advertising both online and in
store to target all users.
Do you think the website provides a means of
communication with your healthcare professions?
The results from this question show 32% of users believe the
website currently does not provide a means of communication,
however the majority of users answered ‘not applicable’. At the
start of the questionnaire analysis it stated all questions of a
neutral response will be analysed in a negative way. Therefore
only 7% participants believe the website provides an effective
means of communication which is of a minority. With many
participants who completed the questionnaire being 41 and over,
they ma
