Anotlicr suggested way to manage catheter encrustation
is to try to reverse the alkaline conditions, created
by the urease producing bacteria, back to an acidic
one. Cranberry juice and ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
have long been used to try and achieve this although
evidence on its effectiveness is poor (Pomfret, 1999;
Getliffe, 2002).
