Hmm, the way Eto is wrapping the bandages around Kaneki and the dormant look he has makes it look like Eto is holding her captive. Also it seems that Ishida has some references to horror movies/books in TG (like Kaneki`s mask has similar bolts that the Frankenstein monster has), so Eto`s whole bandage outfit reminds a mummy to me. I haven`t watched much horror movies so I don´t know much about this particular trope, but what I found quickly about it, is that they are usually displayed as undead monsters, and sometimes have a curse upon them. I am probably looking too much into this, but mummification was used to preserve the dead to the afterlife if I remember correctly. Eto has been described as someone who has probably lost all hope, feels that there is no escape, that she is in a corner and just wants to destroy the world. So in a way she is dead inside, and the bandages are there to keep her from falling apart. Kaneki is in an very similar state and it could be argued that he is even more messed up than Eto, since the only motivation he seems to have in his life now is the wish to die. Maybe dead inside, zombie or an undead fits to Kaneki even better. By wrapping those bandages around him, Eto is trying to protect/preserve Kaneki, who is dead inside and otherwise he would just rot, since he is a walking corpse. In other words, to mummify him.
Then we have the curse, and that could link to the one-eye ghoul status they both have. Because of the hybrid status, they feel that they don`t belong to neither humans or ghouls. Kaneki and Eto are also feared so it makes things even more difficult. So in a way Kaneki and Eto are “cursed” to spent their days alone, since they are shunned from both groups.
The monster movie is a good notice! Mummy’s dont usually have much going onto them though. Like classic Frankenstein they’re a bit simplistic as monsters. Even the original rendition of Frankenstein, the book, is just a manmade being. Granted he’s far more intelligent in the book such as being capable of speech and heavily questioning his existence. He’s also unnamed in the book and oddly the story is a bit of Frankenstein telling his story and then his monster explaining his own experiences.
The monster mummy is very simple in contrast. Usually just something otherworldly awoken from their crypt. Sometimes the curse is even on other people rather than the mummy itself. Such as the Mummy movie series. The mummy’s curse is actually one the mummy himself placed that results in his undead self. It should be noted that he placed such a curse while his own form of execution was a curse in it’s own way.
The parallels your drawing still work though since Eto is obviously more interested in Kanekis continued existence over his death. We also know by her own words she’s fond of him and would likely reach out in her own way. They’re both definitely cursed as well but more akin to the curse of Frankenstein’s monster which knew it had no place to belong and was deeply bothered by this.
At one point in the book the monster even demands of the doctor Frankenstein to make him a mate. So that he wouldn’t be alone. A contrast to both Eto and kaneki. Eto longs for Kaneki through love and Kaneki desires to be loved in a broader sense. We also know Eto is supporting Kanou’s experiments similar to how the monster demanded Frankenstein make him a mate.
